Latvia officially becomes full member of EATRIS

Latvia has officially become a full member of EATRIS as of August 2023. By joining EATRIS, Latvia has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its position as a leading centre for translational medicine in the region.

The EATRIS Board of Governors approved the Latvian membership request on 25 August 2023, and the decision was ratified by the European Commission on 29 August 2023.

Zaiga Nora-Krūkle, Director of the Institute of Microbiology and Virology at the coordinating institute Riga Stradins University said the following: “We are happy to take this step further into the infrastructure and bring new opportunities to the Latvian Translational Medicine community. We are looking forward to the exciting collaborations with the EATRIS national nodes and strengthening Latvia’s position as a leading centre for translational medicine in the Baltic region.”

The Latvian delegation welcomed the decision and have expressed their commitment to supporting research and innovation in the country. Latvia’s membership in EATRIS offers an excellent opportunity to contribute significantly to the field of translational medicine and improve health outcomes for people in the region and beyond.
