EATRIS Spain

The Spanish node of EATRIS is under the umbrella and coordination of the National Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII), as mandated official representative of Spain in EATRIS, and the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research Institute (VHIR), Barcelona, as scientific leadership.

Spain participates with 15 translational accredited health research institutes whose added value is the creation of knowledge in the field of health research. This knowledge stems from within the most prominent Spanish hospitals which have access to first-hand clinical expertise and constitute the perfect environment for the translation of biomedical knowledge to the clinical practice and therefore to the patient (and vice-versa).

Spain in the Spotlight

EATRIS Spain was the inaugural node of the EATRIS Spotlight Programme, an initiative to highlight the scientific excellence and capacities of its member countries while enhancing visibility at both a national and European level. From May to December of 2024, the EATRIS Spain node organised itself under the topic of “Climate Change and Health,” addressing pressing challenges and highlighting impactful research and initiatives that benefit society.

The Spotlight period produced many interesting points and resources in the EATRIS Spain community. Browse the below items for an overview of the current status of Spanish research on climate change.

Spanish spotlight selected publications

The Spanish EATRIS node started its Spotlight Programme with the topic of "The Impact of Climate Change on Health". One of the main aims of the Programme is to highlight national research infrastructures, institutions, and researchers. To that end, Spanish node has selected publications co-authored by researchers from EATRIS Spanish member institutes to showcase the research that is conducted on the topic of climate change and health.

Spain in Spotlight: The Impact of Climate Change on Health

EATRIS Spain selected the topic of “The Impact of Climate Change on Health” as part of its Spotlight residency.
