The Health Research Institute of Asturias is a scientific center of reference in Spain for its capacity to combine the most basic research with the experience of the clinical staff of hospitals and health centres.
The main interest is to advance the knowledge of diseases and the challenges they pose to us as a society. Understanding the current limitations of health research will help us to be more efficient in the future. To this end, ISPA has a large number of research groups specialized in such crucial areas as cancer, neuroscience and bioengineering. The institution encompasses several infrastructures located in Asturias, in addition to the collaboration of hospitals and primary care workers with whom we work with the main objective of achieving the most translational scientific research possible.
