Fatima Nuñez is the Deputy Director of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Management at Hospital Sant Joan de Deu Barcelona. Her scientific specialities are genetics, molecular biology, microarrays and project writing. Fatima has a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Edinburgh. Before joining Hospital Sant Joan de Deu Barcelona, for  18 years Fatima worked at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) with her most recent position as the Deputy Director.

In Fatima’s own words:

“I have been following EATRIS from the beginning of its activities back in 2008 and I have seen it develop its own identity, achieve ERIC status and become a key player in the EU’s translational medicine arena. I have witnessed the creation of a strong network of EATRIS institutions and people that have built rich and vibrant landscape of scientific and technological expertise capable of creating new referential projects to advance the development of new solutions for the benefit of patients. EATRIS ERIC right now is one of the most exciting projects in Europe and I could not be more honoured and happy to be part of it from my position as member of its Scientific Advisory Board. It will be a privilege to walk with EATRIS ERIC into this new chapter marked by their new Strategic plan 2023-2026 and beyond!”
