EATRIS and EMA announce collaboration to offer Online Education for ATMPs Developers

Published 16 September 2020

We are excited to announce that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will support EATRIS and the ADVANCE consortium in delivering online learning course to train the next generation of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) specialists.

ADVANCE is a 30-month Erasmus Plus funded educational project, coordinated by EATRIS, that kicked off in November 2019. The project delivers a 3-stage blended learning programme for early-career biomedical scientists (webinars, online course, face-to-face workshop), who are interested in working in the promising field of ATMPs.

To provide learners with the best possible learning materials directly from the source, EATRIS has joined forces with EMA.  EMA will develop the Regulatory learning unit for the online curriculum, as well as organise an advanced regulatory webinar.

Toni Andreu, EATRIS Scientific Director, said: “ATMPs offer unprecedented promise for the long-term management and even cure of diseases, especially in areas of high unmet medical need. The translation from research into patient benefits requires the involvement of many stakeholders including the regulatory agencies. We very much look forward to this fruitful collaboration with EMA, which will contribute to a high quality training programme.”

Both, the webinar as well as the online course are planned to be launched for everyone to participate free of charge in Fall 2020.

The core curriculum for the ADVANCE programme is developed in cooperation with University of Ljubljana, KU Leuven, Elevate Health, Takis Biotech, Istituto Superiore di Sanita, and Universite Libre De Bruxelles.
