Merel Ackx – Career Development Advisor & Senior Career Coach

Merel Ackx is currently working as a career coach and an advisor on career development at the Career Center of KU Leuven, a center for career development of staff members of KU Leuven. Merel has obtained a Master’s degree in research psychology at KU Leuven, as well as a degree in Cultural Studies and Philosophy, also obtained at KU Leuven. She followed post graduate trainings in Human resources management and has just finished a 4 year formation to become a Gestalt psychotherapist. She has work experience in different fields: research/academia, clinical settings and HR. She has expertise in career coaching, communication skills and well-being and has coached and trained many researchers in these areas.

Melissa Van Beselaere – Head of staff learning and development, KU LEUVEN

Melissa Vanbeselaere is manager of staff training and development at KU Leuven. Together with partners within the university, they build a culture of learning and development. They do this by stimulating and supporting staff in their personal and professional development. This includes a wide range of themes and transferable skills. Throughout her career, Melissa has specialized in the topic of well-being and applies this in coaching and advice to individuals, teams and boards. She is part of the committee well-being within the university, in which she contributed to the development of a welfare policy and training offer to support welfare issues. Her expertise has been built up throughout her career, which started as a researchers and subsequently as a consultant and coach throughout Flanders and specifically as a member of ‘Het Huis voor Veerkracht’, an evidence based expertise center on stress and resilience.
