Job description
We are looking for a Scientific Project Manager to expand our current Science Team (32-40 hours per week). The Scientific Project Manager will primarily support the implementation of EU-funded projects involving large consortia of leading European life science research institutes, in the area of artificial intelligence solutions for clinical decision-making. Working closely with the Area Lead AI in Medical Applications, you will drive the delivery and advancement of the EATRIS project portfolio in this key area.
Main responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with the project consortium, while driving the excellent and timely delivery of EATRIS tasks in the assigned project(s);
- Coordinate project operations, including partner liaison, scheduling of face-to-face meetings and teleconferences, and preparation of agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions. Manage and update project documentation, ensuring that scientific, technical and operational materials are accurate and accessible on the shared platform.;
- Organise and support stakeholder engagement activities (e.g. workshops, expert consultations, working groups), ensuring balanced representation across clinical, technical and regulatory domains.
- Engage the wider scientific community, supporting our member institutions with accelerating translational and patient-centric research in the AI area;
- Ensure timely reporting: coordinate EATRIS reporting obligations, in close consultation with EATRIS Grants and Science teams and other project partners; compile and submit periodic reports, milestones and deliverables expected from EATRIS;
- Provide additional support for other ongoing EU projects or core EATRIS scientific services on an as-needed basis.
PROFILE
- Advanced degree in a biomedical science field (PhD)
- Minimum 1-3 years of project ideally with a focus on data stewardship or digital health in healthcare settings.
- Understanding of AI/ML applications in health or biomedical data governance is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with the European Research Infrastructure ecosystem is a plus
- Familiarity with EU funding programmes is a plus
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and coordinating work across many research institutions
- Team player, self-motivated, service-oriented, flexible
- Able to prioritise and meet agreed deadlines
- A proactive approach to work
- Outstanding organisational skills and a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience of working in an international environment is essential
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to travel when required for project meetings

The position is preferably based in the Coordination & Support office of EATRIS ERIC, located on the VUmc campus of the Amsterdam University Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. However, remote working arrangements may be explored for outstanding candidates. Candidates based in other countries than the Netherlands are also encouraged to apply.
