Join us for this 5-day course on “Gene Therapy Innovations” on 18-22 November 2024 in Heverlee, Belgium.
Discover the future of Gene Therapy: from scientific discoveries to patient benefit – join us for a comprehensive 5-day workshop in the scenic Heverlee, Belgium, with an exclusive site visit to UCB Pharma in Braine-l’Alleud.
This immersive workshop is designed for PhD students in the latter half of their studies, early-stage postdocs, and other young scientists who are delving into the world of gene therapy. The course provides a broad overview of gene therapy, encompassing scientific principles, regulatory landscapes, economic considerations, patient access, and manufacturing processes.
Participants will also have the unique opportunity to engage in group assignments under the guidance of seasoned experts in the field. Don’t miss this chance to deepen your understanding and expand your network in the rapidly evolving field of gene therapy.
The agenda of the course will address the 4 key challenges and bottlenecks of the gene therapy development cycle: Scientific, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Reimbursement/Commercialisation. In addition, clinical aspects will be discussed.
The course is developed and proposed within the scope of the GET-IN doctoral network tackling critical gene therapy technology & knowledge gaps. It will be building on the knowledge of the online course and face-to-face curriculum on ATMPs (Cell and Gene Therapies) development that was developed within the ADVANCE project (2020-2023).
Participants will:
- take a preparatory online course
- hear keynote lectures by experts,
- complete hands-on group assignments,
- get a chance to present their research projects to peers,
- go on tours of gene therapies production facilities (Leuven BioIncubator, UCB)
- have plenty of time to network with peers!
