On 9 March 2022, the Portuguese Minister of Health, Marta Temido, awarded Infarmed Medals of Distinguished Services on behalf of the Portuguese Ministry of Health. This was in recognition of the work carried out by Infarmed bodies in the response to COVID-19.

This ceremony, which took place at Infarmed, highlighted the technical advice provided to the Ministry, especially in the areas of epidemiology, public health and social sciences by the institutions involved in the fight against the pandemic. The event also recognised the role played by the Center for Coordination of the Vaccination Plan against seasonal flu, COVID-19 and by the Regional Health Administrations in the Portuguese vaccination strategy.

The Minister of Health expressed appreciation and recognised that these medals were a token not only for the recipients but also to their teams and families that supported the efforts. Over the years of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health sought to listen to the experts from various areas of expertise to ensure that the strategy of adapting measures to respond to COVID-19 was supported by the best scientific evidence.

We congratulate the EATRIS Portuguese node for its exemplary work. Read more about EATRIS Portugal here.
