EATx HYBRID ‘Combining AI with clinical modalities’

Date & Time 8 February 2021 11.00 CET
Address Virtual

This EATx webinar, in collaboration with HYBRID, focuses on the topic of AI usage in imaging. The session will feature 3 speakers:

  • Irène Buvat (Institut Curie, Paris) will briefly explain how AI can and actually already does enhance hybrid imaging and what to expect from AI in that domain in the coming years. Beyond the huge opportunities offered by AI, she will also mention the challenges to be overcome for AI to be a game changer in medical imaging, for the benefit of research and patients.
  • Nicolò Capobianco (Siemens Healthineers) will present how artificial intelligence techniques, with their unprecedented ability to capture high-level patterns in natural data, can be used to obtain image-derived biomarkers in oncology rapidly and reproducibly.
  • Esteban Lucas Solari (Technical University of Munich) will talk about how simple machine learning tools can help predict cancer aggressiveness. He will also present a deep learning approach to automate cumbersome steps in the reading of prostate cancer images.

HYBRID is a European Commission funded industrial academic initial training network. The ultimate goal of HYBRID is to establish the field of non-invasive disease characterisation beyond the narrower vision of radiomics. Specifically, they seek to adopt a more inclusive approach to image analysis, that considers anatomical, functional and hybrid imaging, together with related clinical non-imaging parameters that are extracted from patients during their work-up. More info about HYBRID can be found here.
