We are pleased to present the EATRIS Annual Report for 2025, highlighting our achievements, progress and community activities over the past year. You can view and download the report here. Rich with original insights, biomedical images and updates from across our infrastructure, the report reflects EATRIS’ continued role as Europe’s research infrastructure for translational medicine. In 2025, EATRIS strengthened its work across scientific communities, policy-makers, patients, funders and industry, supporting the translation of scientific discoveries into tangible benefits for patients and society.
Key Highlights from 2025:
- The Slovak Republic became the 15th Member State of EATRIS-ERIC, further strengthening the European translational research community.
- Launch of two new Horizon Europe projects: Compass AI, supporting the safe and equitable use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, and RealiseD, improving clinical trial approaches for rare and ultra-rare diseases.
- The EATRIS Spotlight Programme entered a new phase, with Sweden handing over to Portugal, and continued to showcase national excellence and foster cross-border collaboration.
- The International Drug Repurposing Conference, iDR25, brought together the global drug repurposing community in Amsterdam, strengthening collaboration across researchers, regulators, policy-makers, funders, industry and patient groups.
- Implementation of the EATRIS Impact Assessment Framework advanced across the national nodes, embedding six impact pathways across the distributed infrastructure.
- Continued digital transformation through EATRIS-CONNECT, including progress on AI-enabled tools, data integration, digital biomarkers and the development of the EATRIS Digital Hub.
- Mentoring and capacity-building activities expanded further through initiatives including REMEDi4ALL, ERDERA and ERA4Health, supporting researchers across regulatory, clinical and innovation pathways.
- EATRIS continued to strengthen patient engagement through the Patient Engagement Resource Centre, EATRIS-CONNECT workshops and patient involvement in drug repurposing activities.
- Education and training activities continued to grow, including TMex, the EATRIS-CONNECT Summer School on AI and digital health, and the launch of GENETROPOLIS, a new educational board game focused on ATMP development.
We thank all our members and partners for their commitment to our mission – together, we are shaping the future of translational medicine.
The report provides a comprehensive overview of the EATRIS infrastructure, including updates from Member States, scientific platform activities, featured publications, project developments, services, partnerships, patient engagement, education and training, and financial updates.
EATRIS institutes across Europe continue to form a unique community where scientific expertise, infrastructure and collaboration come together to advance translational medicine. Through innovation, cooperation and shared commitment, EATRIS is helping to strengthen Europe’s translational research ecosystem and support the development of solutions that can improve patients’ lives.
The cover art shows cytotoxic T-cells inspecting cancer cells. These immune cells help recognise abnormal cells and can destroy cancer cells before they spread. This visual motif recurs throughout the report, alongside biomedical images from across the EATRIS community, reflecting the report’s central theme: translating scientific discovery into patient benefit.
