The EATRIS-CONNECT Summer School 2025 was held from 22 to 24 September 2025 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The programme was organised as an interactive face-to-face summer school.

The EATRIS-CONNECT Summer School’s three-day programme offered a comprehensive overview of digital transformation in personalised medicine. Lectures were delivered by leading experts from the field, including Prof. Alain van Gool (biomarkers and big data), Prof. Sven Nelander (AI in cancer treatment), Prof. Marián Hajduch (digital approaches in translational medicine), Dr Willem van den Brink (digital biomarkers in type 2 diabetes) and Prof. Mark van Gils (diagnostics in cardiovascular diseases), alongside sessions by EATRIS experts such as Dr Sara Zullino, Dr Sarah Morgan, Dr Jernej Repas, and Gašper Tomšič. Interactive activities included hands-on workshops on machine learning, FAIR data escape room, AI implementation tools, and an in silico drug repurposing challenge, complemented by networking and social events.
A total of 31 participants from 13 countries attended the summer school. The majority were PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers (93%), primarily from academia and research organisations (85%), with additional representation from healthcare, biotech, and consultancy. They came from diverse and multidisciplinary backgrounds (pharmacy, medicine, biology, data science).
The impression from participants showed very high satisfaction with both the organisation and content of the programme. Overall organisation was rated at an average of 3.8 out of 4, while the location and delivery method received the highest score of 3.9. The balance of content was considered appropriate by 91% of participants, and 93% reported that the training met or exceeded their expectations. Importantly, all participants stated that they would recommend the course to others.
The EATRIS-CONNECT Summer School 2025 successfully combined scientific lectures with interactive and social activities. It strengthened the flagship EATRIS project EATRIS-CONNECT mission of advancing digital approaches in personalised medicine and fostered new collaborations across disciplines and countries.
