We are looking for a Data Community Coordinator to join the EATRIS Coordination and Support office based at the University Medical Centre in Amsterdam.
EATRIS is the European Research Infrastructure for Translational Medicine and one of the leading permanent European infrastructures for life sciences. The infrastructure provides access to excellent academic expertise and facilities from 150+ partner institutions across our 14 European Member States to accelerate early medicine development and advance promising medical research for the benefit of patients. EATRIS is active in the preclinical and early clinical phases of the development of medicines, diagnostics, and vaccines.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a strong background in translational medicine, with a deep understanding of the processes involved in translating scientific discoveries into practical applications for patient care. The candidate should have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical implementation. The objective of the Data Community Coordinator is to utilise data management as a support vehicle to facilitate translational medicine processes in health innovations.
Job description
With a keen interest in Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data management practices, the EATRIS Data Community Coordinator will develop our portfolio of data-related services and projects, and community of data experts to promote best practices for key translational medicine use cases.
Reporting to the EATRIS Director of Digital Transformation this individual will collaborate closely with researchers, clinicians, and data scientists to develop and implement robust data management strategies that support the seamless progression of scientific discoveries from the bench to the bedside. This will include management of our activity in data-related European-focussed projects, coordination of our EATRIS data community, and support of our research community in their data and digital transformation needs.
This role presents a unique opportunity for an individual with a passion for both translational medicine and data management to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge research with real-world impact on patient outcomes.
Main responsibilities
- Provide translational medicine data-related expertise within EATRIS to:
- Lead the implementation of our EATRIS data strategy;
- Assess the feasibility of EATRIS data-related activities from a needs perspective;
- Coordinate existing solutions within EATRIS that will comprise our data service catalogue;
- Support the Director of Digital Transformation to identify and develop opportunities for EATRIS data related activities.
- Manage a growing portfolio of EATRIS data related projects to ensure effective needs and impact-driven execution of our activities, both from the Coordination and Support office as well as our partner institutions;
- Lead the day-to-day management and coordination of the EATRIS Data Team, driving cohesion and impact;
- Liaise with the EATRIS Scientific Platforms to foster collaboration, alignment, and communication to drive data-related integration within EATRIS;
- Facilitate and develop relationships with EATRIS colleagues and the wider external community to foster collaboration and innovation using EATRIS services.
Profile
- PhD in translational medicine, or associated field;
- Experience in working within the data-intense areas of biomedical research at the technical and coordination levels;
- Experience of data management planning and coordination within the biomedical domain;
- Experience in project management, preferably with experience in European Commission grant-funded programmes;
- Track record in coordinating work across many collaborating partners;
- Outstanding communicator and team player;
- Self-motivated, service-oriented, flexible, yet able to prioritise and meet agreed deadlines;
- A proactive approach to work, organised and able to travel when project requires;
- Excellent command of English (both written & oral).
