Earlier this month saw the launch meeting of the PRECISEU project in Barcelona, connecting innovation ecosystems across the EU to efficiently advance personalised healthcare in Europe.
The EATRIS team was proud to be part of the kick-off meeting of the new EU-funded, PRECISEU (personalized medicine Empowerment Connecting Innovation ecoSystems across Europe) project in Barcelona on,10-11 July 2024 gathering 50 attendees from partner regions. Coordinated by BIOCAT in Catalunya, PRECISEU consists of 25 partners from 11 European regions. This initiative, supported by a total budget of nearly €23 Mil over the next five years, aims to accelerate the adoption of personalised medicine in Europe with a central focus on innovative advanced therapies.
PRECISEU initiative, a first of its kind, is funded equally by the European Commission and regional budgets and marks the initiation of one of Europe’s most ambitious projects, aimed at transforming healthcare through personalised, predictive, and participatory approaches. The project will focus on two areas:
- Innovative Health Data Projects: Approximately €11.5 Mil will fund innovative health data projects and advanced therapies, supporting 25-50 European entities. Each consortium will receive an average of €3 Mil, fostering groundbreaking advancements.
- Strategic Healthcare Readiness: Another €11.5 Mil will be allocated to strategic actions, including market analysis, patient access to innovation, collaboration platforms, and training programs. These efforts will enhance healthcare quality and innovation across Europe.
The PRECISEU consortium includes participants from the regions including Sofia-Bulgaria, Flanders-Belgium, Catalonia-Spain, Baden-Württemberg in Germany, Lithuania, Northeast Region-Romania, Emilia-Romagna-Italy, and Gothenburg-Sweden. The consortium is supported by Clusters, research centres, NGOs and networks of regional and European innovators, scientists, and entrepreneurs in the field of health innovation in the EU. We are delighted to be part of this exciting journey to accelerate the implementation of personalised medicine.
