The EATRIS-CONNECT Knowledge Exchange Programme has been designed to improve the digital readiness of EATRIS nodes, with a specific focus on digital transformation (DT) in translational medicine. Digital transformation in translational medicine refers to the use of advanced digital technologies (such as data, tools, and services) to create innovative solutions for unmet medical needs, and is the central focus of activity within the EATRIS-CONNECT project.

The programme has been designed to provide CONNECT partners and EATRIS organisations that are not official partners of the project to benefit from knowledge exchange funds.
Funding of up to 1000 euros is available to support exchange activities, and funds can be used to pay for travel, accommodation and subsistence related to a visit. Costs will be reimbursed upon completion of the exchange (including final report submission).
Everyone who wants to take part in the programme needs to complete an application, gaining approval either through:
- For CONNECT partners: Their node leads with ratification from the CONNECT KE group
- For other EATRIS members: EATRIS C&S and the CONNECT KE group
The two streams are outlined in the figure to the right.
Knowledge exchange examples
There are no set types of exchange that can take place, but they must involve at least two nodes and have a defined aim and output.
Examples could include:
- DT Literacy: Individual staff exchanges between nodes to enable knowledge transfer related to digital solutions, workflows, and service provision that support translational medicine development.
- Workshops: Group sharing of best practices or collaborative digital solutions development.
- Collaborative Initiatives: Exchange of experience and ideas for collaborative digital transformation initiatives.
- Online / Virtual Knowledge Exchanges: Digital seminars, webinars, and other virtual events to share knowledge.
