The Istituti Fisioterapici Ospitalieri (IFO) is the public legal entity, founded in 1926, which manages the Regina Elena National Cancer Institute (IRE) and the San Gallicano Dermatological Institute (ISG). These institutions, recognised since 1939 as Scientific Institutes for Hospitalisation (IRCCS) specialising in oncology and dermatology, are committed to healthcare, biomedical research, and training.

Here, patients are cared for throughout all stages of the disease, fully integrating precision medicine and personalised medical, surgical, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine therapies. The strong specialist focus that characterises the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and skin diseases ensures that each patient receives the most appropriate approach to their health needs.

Through rigorous scientific protocols, including in collaboration with international institutions, the results of cutting-edge basic research are rapidly translated into clinical practice, benefiting patient management characterised by a multidisciplinary, integrated, and personalised approach.

Thus, multiple skills from different diagnostic and therapeutic sectors optimise and integrate prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. The establishment of Disease Management Teams (DMTs) is aimed precisely at this type of horizontal and interdepartmental organisation, and numerous are active for specific pathologies.
