Digital innovation is reshaping the landscape of translational research, and EATRIS is proud to be at the forefront of this change. Central to this evolution are our Digital Transformation (DT) Champions—a dynamic network of professionals advocating for DT within our national nodes across Europe.
Appointed by the EATRIS National Directors (NDs) and EATRIS National Coordinators (NCs), DT Champions serve as vital connectors between the EATRIS-CONNECT DT Expert Network and our member institutions. Their mission is to accelerate the adoption and integration of digital solutions in personalised and translational medicine, ensuring that national efforts are aligned with EATRIS’ strategic digital agenda.
What Digital Transformation Champions Do
The DT Champions play a key role in identifying digital assets and services that can be incorporated into the EATRIS Digital Hub—a central platform designed to enhance collaboration and digital service visibility across the research infrastructure. By bridging researchers, clinicians, patients, digital specialists and industry stakeholders, they help foster a cohesive and digitally empowered ecosystem in the shape of a web-based, generative AI-powered conversational platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mapping and highlighting existing digital services and infrastructures within national nodes.
- Recognising training needs and organising knowledge-sharing activities.
- Facilitating cross-sector dialogue to strengthen translational pathways through digital tools.
- Supporting the dissemination of EATRIS-CONNECT project outcomes at local and regional levels.
- Identifying potential users of the Digital Hub, including pharma, SMEs and bioclusters.
- Informing national node strategies by integrating emerging digital opportunities and challenges.
- Promoting synergies with other Life Science Research Infrastructures (LSRIs).
Why It Matters
Digital Transformation is not merely a technological upgrade—it is a strategic enabler of efficiency, collaboration and innovation in biomedical research. By equipping national nodes with dedicated DT Champions, EATRIS ensures that digital potential is translated into real-world impact, reinforcing Europe’s leadership in personalised medicine.
