We are looking for an Innovation Manager (36-40 hours per week) to expand our current Science Team capacity. The Innovation Manager will primarily drive the deployment and coordination of the EATRIS Translational Assessment service, a service developed to support funders and companies in the assessment of the Translational Feasibility of their project portfolios.

Job description
You will work directly with the EATRIS Head of Operations to further develop the service and expand the client portfolios through business development and interaction with research funders at national and European levels. As Innovation Manager you will contribute to individual Translational Assessment reports providing expertise on the translational feasibility of the projects under assessment. In addition, you will have dedicated time to provide capacity on EU-funded projects where EATRIS participates as a partner, executing the sustainability and exploitation strategy of the projects. Two EU projects are currently foreseen:
TRUSTroke: TRUSTroke will develop a novel trustworthy-by-design and privacy-preserving AI-based platform to assist clinicians, patients, and caregivers in the management of acute and chronic phases of ischemic stroke, based on the integration of clinical and patient-reported data, outcomes and experience for a trustworthy assessment of disease progression and risks.
SIMPATHIC: SIMPATHIC will accelerate drug repurposing for rare neurological, neurometabolic and neuromuscular disorders. SIMPATHIC’s main innovation is the simultaneous drug development for groups of patients with different genetic diagnoses with overlapping neurological symptoms and molecular pathomechanisms.
Main responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of EATRIS Translational Assessment report to clients – ensure delivery of high-quality assessments;
- Maintain and expand our repository of experts (e.g., IP, regulatory, HTA) and web-based tools supporting our Translational Assessment service;
- Engage and build EATRIS network of technical / drug development experts and clinical specialists (KOL) for input through interviews supporting individual reports;
- Engage with clients and promote broadly our EATRIS Translational Assessment service – contribute to communication package and lead business development related activities;
- Maintain and report on customer relationships;
- Directly contribute to Translational Assessment reports with expert content;
- Ensure relevant service offering and monitoring documentation;
- Act as EATRIS contact point on the TRUSTroke and SIMPATHIC projects. Contribute and coordinate EATRIS activities in the projects’ Work Packages on Sustainability and Innovation Management according to the Description of Work. Ensure timely completion of deliverables in close consultation with EATRIS Grants and Science teams and other project partners; compile and submit periodic reports, milestones and deliverables expected from EATRIS;
- Build international Innovation Management community of practice – coordinate efforts and knowledge exchange with EATRIS Expert Centres. Engage and build relationship with EATRIS scientific community, supporting institutions with accelerating translational and patient-centric research;
- Provide additional support for other ongoing EU projects, core EATRIS scientific services and education and training programs on an as-needed basis.
Profile
- Advanced degree in a biomedical science field (PhD);
- 3 -5 years relevant innovation management experience as a professional at Technology Transfer Office, pharma industry, venture capital firm or consultancy, e.g. involved with product commercialisation, business development and or valorisation activities;
- Experience in developing business plans and market analysis in the life sciences field;
- Sufficient knowledge of the translational research and development domain, with a broad view, interest and overall understanding of the legal, regulatory and technical requirements and bottlenecks of biomedical product development;
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English;
- Comfortable working with a broad portfolio of activities and stakeholders;
- Team player, self-motivated, service-oriented, flexible, good communicator, creative thinking;
- Able to prioritise and meet agreed deadlines;
- A proactive approach to work;
- Outstanding organisational skills and a high attention to detail and accuracy;
- Experience of working in an international environment is essential;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Available for occasional travel when required for project meetings.

The position is preferably based at the Coordination & Support office of EATRIS ERIC, located on the VUmc campus of the Amsterdam University Medical Centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. However, remote working arrangements may be explored for outstanding candidates. Candidates based in other countries than the Netherlands are also encouraged to apply.
