EATRIS is a European academic research infrastructure in translational medicine, established in 2014.  The mission of EATRIS is to utilise cutting edge technologies and expertise to improve translation of scientific results into new therapies and diagnostics. We do this by providing cutting edge research services to support drug and diagnostics development. One of our major areas of interest is to facilitate industry-academic collaborations using these facilities. Our 110 research institutions in 14 EU countries provide capacity and expertise to support research requests.

Job description:

The scientific project manager will expand the EATRIS scientific team and contribute to the scientific development of the infrastructure and its positioning in the field of Personalised Medicine through managing a portfolio of services, ongoing collaborations and imaging-related activities. The scientific programme manager will coordinate outreach to small-medium enterprise,  and the management, maintenance and cohesion of the EATRIS Imaging & Tracing platform, a community of more than 35 institutions providing access to their cutting edge translational imaging capacities. The Scientific Programme Manager reports to the Head of Operations.

His/her responsibilities have two main themes:

  1. Scientific user and outreach manager:
    • Supports the network of institutions in engendering new scientific collaborations and services provision, with a focus on personalised medicine R&D;
    • Reviews new incoming projects according to pre-defined translational potential criteria;
    • Facilitates projects acquisition, initiation and monitoring;
    • Supports long term public-private collaborations such as the EATRIS GSK Inflammation Imaging Hub;Coordinates and participates in the team’s outreach activities to SME, including occasional travel to partnering meetings and scientific conferences
  2. Infrastructure platform manager:
    • Facilitates development of strategic scientific infrastructure projects defined by the Imaging & Tracing platform, its chairs and its members;
    • Supports in ongoing inventorising and maintenance of available (translational imaging) infrastructure and expertise, provides update of status to stakeholders;
    • Coordinates communication within and across product platforms and projects – develop communication content;
    • Supports the development of scientific events and workshops;
    • Supports development, harmonisation and standardisation of common QA/QC standards for delivery of high-quality services by the research infrastructure;
    • Liaises with prospective users and collaborators (funders, co-development partners from industry and academia)

The candidate:

EATRIS seeks to strengthen its team with engaged and motivated talent, ready for the challenge and excitement of expanding a pioneering initiative in Europe. We seek an individual with:

  • Advanced degree in biomedical science field (PhD/MD);
  • Experience in cutting edge translational imaging ( e.g in-vivo molecular and clinical imaging – radiomics);
  • Preferably a good understanding of the (regulatory) aspects of imaging in the context of drug and diagnostics development
  • Min 4 years post-doctoral experience in biomedical research, with preference for min 3 years experience in industry R&D setting;
  • Min 2 years-experience in project management;
  • Fluency in English (written & spoken);
  • Excellent communication skills, at ease dealing with senior international scientific & policy making stakeholders;
  • Skill in understanding diverse stakeholder needs and translating this into effective & attractive service proposition;
  • Strong teamworking skills.
