About Slovenia

Slovenia has joined EATRIS in 2016. At present, the Slovenian arm of EATRIS consists of only one institution: University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, the leading research and higher education institution in the fields of Pharmacy, Clinical Biochemistry, Toxicology and cosmetology in the Region, contributing to Small Molecules EATRIS Platform.

The Slovenian node of EATRIS provides a wide range of services of early clinical development; In silico drug design (ligand-based and structure-based), Synthesis and optimization of lead molecules/drug candidates and their evaluation in vitro, In vitro cell toxicity studies, Drug repurposing, Optimisation of drug targeting and delivery, including nanoparticle carriers, High-throughput screening in cell-based assays, Biodistribution studies and modelling (LADME, PK/PD, population analysis, bioequivalence studies), Biorelevant dissolution testing, Development and validation of analytical and bioanalytical methods in accordance with FDA and/other guidelines, Formulation design, Nanotechnology and nanodelivery systems.

In addition to their excellence in development and evaluation of small molecules and (bio)analytical methods, Faculty of Pharmacy in Ljubljana has the key insight into other parts of translational medicine; development of biomarkers, cell biology, molecular pharmacology and toxicology, solid form prototype development and advanced drug delivery.
